Events
SUNDAY, MARCH 28TH:
Mark your calendar. We are planning a HUGE family event on Sunday, March 28th at the Stonegate community on SR54, just west of SR41 in Land O' Lakes. Southern Crafted Homes is sponsoring this event that has never taken place before. Start looking for your red shirt, you will need it to show your support for our Troops.
Details to follow. This is going to be BIG!
VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS:
We collected about 8,600Valentine's Day cards and letters.A HUGE thank you to everyone who made this such a success.
FEMININE HYGIENE PRODUCTS
We are currently collecting feminine hygiene products for our sisters in harm's way. As a woman, can YOU imagine life without these creature comforts. I can't. Let's make life a little more livable for those who are fighting for our FREEDOM.
Tampons are widely used to stop the bleeding in deep wounds. So I need TONS of tampons as well.
EASTER ZIPLOC BAGS
Ziploc bags full of goodies for our Troops: deadline March 15, 2010
Immediately after the Holidays, donations and supplies for our Troops are at an all time low.
I have decided to do a “Ziploc bags full of goodies” drive for our Troops.
I will give you a box of gallon size Ziploc bags or you can get them yourself (Walmart brand is the cheapest) and you are free to hand these bags out to anyone who would like to fill one (or more) with goodies: your neighbors, relatives, colleagues, social club, church, school, girls scouts/boys scouts troops, etc.
I will need all bags by March 15 so I can ship them out for Passover and Easter.
Just two rules: do NOT mix food with soap items. The food will taste like soap. And NO MORE chocolate. By the time I collect all the baggies from you, it will be warmer in our neck of the woods and in the Middle East and the chocolate will melt.
Suggested items to include in the bags:
Feminine hygiene products, shampoo, body wash, body lotion, deodorant, instant soups, instant beverages (drink mixes),ice teas, lemonade, kool-aid (with sugar already mixed),coffee, tea, hot chocolate, small packets ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, tabasco sauce, cookies, crackers (plain and cheese) – especially lunch box packs w/ individual servings, cereal bars, granola bars, power bars, single serve fruit cups, beef jerky, foil bag tuna or tuna snack "kits", slim jims, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash, baby wipes, soap, disposable cameras, batteries (AA and C), visine or other eye drops, phone cards (by unit is best), envelopes, stationary, pens, hand sanitizer, travel games, playing cards, lip balm, sun screen, Q-Tips, shaving cream, razors, microwave popcorn.
Small hotel soaps and shampoos are very popular.
And as always: cards and letters!! I can never get enough of those. They do wonders for the morale of our Troops.
~ Until they ALL come home!
